2001. Ph.D. Biological Sciences- Biodiversity: Genetics, History and Mechanisms of Evolution at Universite Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6), France.

1997. DEA:Biodiversity: Genetics, History and Mechanisms of Evolution at UniversitŽ Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6), France.

1993. Bachelor of Science at Department of Zoology, Fishery Division, National Taiwan University, Taiwan.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

My work and general research interests concern:

  1. The application of molecular tools within a phylogenetic framework to interpret fish diversity and to improve the existing classification, which relies generally on loosely formulated "phylogenetic syntheses";
  2. The methodologies associated with reconstruction of large-scale phylogenies;
  3. Molecular evolution, currently focusing on gene genealogy of rhodopsin/rhodopsin-like and on molecular adaptation of visual systems in fishes;
  4. Fisheries biology.

Current projects:

  1. High-level molecular phylogeny of ray-finned fishes (Actinopterygii) (with G. Ortí);
  2. Molecular phylogeny of the Esociformes (Protacanthopterygii) and allies (with Guillermo Orti and Andres Lopez);
  3. Molecular Systematics of Gerreidae (Percoidei, Perciformes) (with Dr. Ramon Ruiz-Carus and Guillermo Orti);
  4. Molecular phylogeny of spiny fishes (Acanthomorpha) (PhD dissertation with G. Lecointre).
  5. Phylogeny of the higher Antarctic teleosts (Suborder Notothenioidei, with G. Lecointre).
